Who Is Sheila Dugan?Sheila Dugan is one of our nation's most well respected voice teachers. Her excellent work with students is recognized at America's finest universities and on America's most important stages. As a matter of fact, Sheila was informed by Mark Madama, Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan (music.umich.edu/faculty_staff/bio), that she holds the record in America for training the most number of students ever accepted to the University of Michigan Musical Theatre Program from one voice teacher. Currently, five of Ms. Dugan’s students have had the pleasure of working with the great Sutton Foster. Four of them have studied with her, and one of them is currently starring with her in the remounting of Anything Goes, on Broadway (2011). Sheila is an innovator in the area of non-abusive voice production. A
Master Teacher of Voice, Ms. Dugan has created techniques which help the
singer/speaker/actor, achieve maximum volume and endurance, without
stress on the instrument or the body. As a voice rehabilitator, she has
restored voices with common and complex challenges, including unilateral
vocal fold paralysis. Ms. Dugan is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and is listed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who of Entertainment, and Who's Who of American Education .
